Battle of Blood and Ink

Anonymous asked: What's "Creed of the Seamstress" about?

A while back, Mur Lafferty discussed wanting to create a Sacred Cow, and oft-handily mentioned how The Princess Bride annoyed her because of Buttercup’s lack of agency. Which is a serious fault of the book, and I said so: “Can you imagine the story of a girl who devotes her life to swordplay in order to avenge her father, becomes a slobbering drunk only to pull herself out of the bottle in order to save a princess, kill her father’s murderer and become the latest in a long line of pirate kings?”

I could, in fact, imagine it, and has stewed in the back of my head for quite some time. The title comes from a Dessa song, which fits the story too perfectly.
